ALL ABOUT LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

The lymphatic network—a network of vessels and organs—lies under your skin. Is a crucial part of the immune system and works kind of like a sanitation system for our body by getting rid of 'waste' that our body naturally produces, or other things that can invade our body, like bacteria.

It is NOT a regular massage with deep pressure that massages muscles. The lymphatic system is very close to the surface of the skin, therefore light pressure is used.

Deep tissue massage utilizes techniques that are administered to affect the sub layer of musculature and fascia. Deep Tissue Massage helps with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation and reduces  inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. Whereas Swedish Massage focuses more on the relaxing of superficial musculature, deep tissue manipulates the web of connective tissues that surrounds supports and penetrates the muscles.

Who is not suitable?
This treatment is not suitable for people who have the following:

Pacemaker, Heart Problems, conditions such as Lupus or Herpes that are aggravated by  heat, or Diabetes that can cause desensitisation of the skin.

The treatment will also be less effective for those who have a compromised immune system because the treatment depends on your bodies ability to heal itself.

How the treatment works?
In a nutshell, Fat Cavitation is a treatment that effectively reduces fat and cellulite in the selected areas using ultrasonic waves. This causes the walls of the fat cells to rupture, releasing the fatty liquid to be absorbed into the bloodstream for your body to process as waste.
This treatment has been coupled with Radio Frequency which is the localised heating of a specific area, it’s likened to the sensation of a warm massage. This triggers collagen and elastin production, tightening the skin immediately, with results increasing until 2-6 months.

Is it safe?
Yes it’s safe. Fat Cav & RF are both non-invasive treatments, with very few side effects.
There is no down-time associated with either part of the treatment, and both are pain free.
Some people experience nausea in the initial stages of the treatment as toxins have been pushed around the body. Other side effects may be dizziness or headaches.
All of these symptoms can be lessened by following the Pre & Post Advice especially drinking the required amount of water.
Please note – No heating treatments are to be done on the day of a procedure such as laser or IPL in the local area.

Considerations

These treatments are a helpmate along with your lifestyle changes and management.

If you do not follow Pre & Post Treatment Advice, you will not get the best possible results.

The results -70% is up to the client regarding diet, water intake, lifestyle and exercise.

5% is all about health, (eg Polycystic Ovaries, medications etc) and age (the older you are the slower the uptake of treatment).

25% is up to the therapist to do the treatment well.

How many treatments will I need?
It is recommended between 6-12 treatments.
Results are often noticed immediately, but you will notice definite results after the third treatment. Time of treatment will depend on how your body handles the release of toxins.
Ideally treatment times increase each visit if Pre & Post Advice are followed.

Frequency of Treatment
You can have treatments as close as 3 days apart, but no closer as the body needs time for the elimination process. 

Are the effects long lasting?
Yes, ultrasound stimulation bypasses our central nervous system (which controls the release of noradrenaline), hence no fat rebound effect is observed.

Pre Treatment (24 Hours)

Reduce Carbs, Fats & Salt from diet

Avoid Cigarettes, Alcohol & Caffeine for best results

Eat light, fresh, unprocessed foods as much as possible

Drink at least 2-3 litres of water per day, minimum

Post Treatment (24 Hours)

You need to consume at least 2-3 litres of water after your treatment, not including what you had before your appointment. You need to flush the toxins out of your body.

Immediately after your appointment it’s important to go for a walk (20+ minutes, elevate your heart rate) or within 4-6 hours do some exercise as you need to ensure you burn or eliminate the liquified fat, not reabsorb it.
